Mental Health Act (2014) Review - Psychosis Submission: Drug Induced Psychosis Survey

The Mental Health Act (2014) is currently being reviewed. This is an opportunity to provide feedback and recommendations to improve the act.

The Alcohol and Other Drug Consumer and Community Coalition are seeking input from members with first hand lived experience with the Mental Health Act (2014), specifically in the area of Drug Induced Psychosis treatment.

In August 2021 a discussion paper was released highlighting issues with the current Act. These issues have been identified through community consultation as well as the final report of the Select Committee into Alternative Approaches to Reducing illicit Drug use and its Effects on the Community.

Please see below for links to access the documents mentioned, and to read the key points relating to drug-induced psychosis which came about from the Select committee’s report.

We have put together a short survey to hear your experiences. We are offering a $60 voucher to a randomly selected member for their experience.

If you would like to go in to the running, please fill out your details at the end of the survey.

All experiences shared will not be identified.

Integrated Healthcare Precincts Lived Experience Design Working Group

WA Primary Health Alliance (WAPHA) is developing a model for Integrated Healthcare Precincts.

To assist with the design of the model, WAPHA are establishing a Lived Experience Design Working Group, which will be convened in December 2021.

The Lived Experience Design Working Group will identify and consider challenges and opportunities relating to the fostering and practical application of different types of integration, in local communities.

WAPHA is seeking expressions of interest from individuals with lived experience of two or more chronic health conditions and significant engagement with the primary health care system.

Aboriginal people, people from Culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and people who identify as LGBTIQ+ are strongly encouraged to submit an EOI.

In The Frame All of Stakeholder Workshop

The AODCCC team will be joining many other stakeholders by attending the Mental Health Commission's All of Stakeholder Workshop on Tuesday 30 November 2021. If you would like to attend, please head to the link below for more information.

Reference Group - Expression of Interest

As part of the ongoing development of the Alcohol and Other Drug Consumer and Community Coalition, we are establishing a consumer reference group to represent the voice of our members in our advocacy.

This group will consist of AODCCC members who will meet monthly to share their lived experience expertise. The development of this group will ensure we maintain authentic engagement of our members that informs AODCCC projects and systemic advocacy opportunities, including service provision.

Our Reference Groups are not limited to one intake, and just because expressions are closed for a group, doesn't mean we won't reopen them in the future, or have other opportunities for members to apply.
